San Diego California, 13 February 1999
The dive boat decided NOT to go to the Coronados, so the dive was into the Kelp beds just outside Mission Bay, which is just north of San Diego. There was some life in the water, and even a large sea lion, but he wouldn't pose for my camera. There was plenty of kelp, which provided some good pictures of some new divers being entangled in it (see below)...
The water was 53° on the first dive, and 51° on the second, but I rented a one-piece 7 mil suit, and found it to be excellent protection. My body stayed warm on both dives. If I needed anything, it was thicker booties and gloves.
The charter boat from the water.
Supposably this is the best in town, but I wish they had kept to schedule.

There is a lobster in this picture, can you see it?
Kelp

This guy was so entangled, he couldn't even get off the bottom.
He was cut loose by others once he calmed down..
